Retiring Stampin' Up! Favorites - Part Two

Miss You Card featuring Stampin' Up! Really Good Greetings stamp set and I Am Me Designer Series Paper.

I'm continuing my trip down memory lane today, taking a look back at some of my favorite handmade cards and projects featuring Stampin' Up! products that will retire June 2, 2015. (If you missed part one, you can see it here.)

Rather than list all the stamp sets and other papercrafting supplies at the end in one huge supply list, each project will link to the original post for complete details and a supply list.

Learn more about the retiring Stampin' Up! products for 2015 here, including what's on sale (up to 50% off!) while supplies last.

Stampin' Up! Mosiac Madness flower blossom for cards and gifts. Tutorial by Gayle Wheeler - Stampingville

This gorgeous blossom was created using the retiring Mosiac Madness stamp set and coordinating Mosiac Punch in an unexpected way. See more of these colorful Mosiac Madness flower blossoms.

Cute thank you card using Stampin' Up! Chalk Talk stamp set | Stampingville

This thank you card is full of newly retiring products. The repeating sentiment image is from the retiring Chalk Talk stamp set. The stamp set is also available in a bundle that includes the coordinating Chalk Talk Framelits Dies. TIP: The Framelits are not retiring, so I fully expect a new coordinating stamp set in the new Annual Catalog. I love having versatile framelits with lots of matching stamps!

Also retiring is the Large Scallop Edgelit Die and the coordinating Delicate Designs Embossing Folders duo. The Basic Black Chevron Ribbon is retiring, as is Strawberry Slush cardstock along with the other 2013-2015 In Colors.

Sweet birthday card with Stampin' Up! Hello Love stamp set by Stampingville

I've used the adorable Hello Love Hostess Stamp Set on tons of projects including this cute birthday card. As happens every year, all exclusive hostess sets will be retiring.

Simple thank you card with Stampin' Up! Four You stamp set. Great use of patterned paper by Stampingville.

Try as I might, photographing this simple thank you card proved difficult. The design is pleasing, but it's the contrasting patterns and stunning color combo that reach out and grab you when you see this this card in person. The retiring Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack features Basic Gray and Lost Lagoon in addition to the Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Sahara Sand, and Whisper White shown here.

The Paper Stack (small pad) is retiring along with the Four You stamp set, Large Scallop Edgelit Die, and the gorgeous Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin Ribbon (Waaahhhh!).

Stampin' Up! Truly Grateful stamp set with gold embossing and burlap by Stampingville

The retiring Truly Grateful stamp set debuted in a seasonal catalog and then later popped up in the Annual Catalog for a return engagement. This set is appropriate for Thanksgiving as well as creating thank you cards. You might not recognize a sneaky way I used a third image from this set. Get the details here.

Oh, Happy Day card by Stampingville | Stampin' Up! Starburst Sayings stamp set plus Starburst Framelits Dies.

The large medallion image from the Starburst Sayings stamp set is perfect for so many occasions and this happy day card is just one of them. All things "starburst" are retiring, including the stamp set, the coordinating Starburst Framelits Dies, and the Starburst Bundle (stamps + dies at 15% off).

Fun thinking of you or all occasion card by Stampingville with Stampin' Up! Hi There stamp set and Starburst Framelits.

More Starburst Framelits fun on this all-occasion card featuring the retiring Hi There stamp set and one of my favorite retiring accessories - the Essentials Wooden Elements.

Thanks for reminiscing with me as we look at just a small sampling of retiring Stampin' Up! products. These were a few of my favorite cards and projects from the past. It always makes me sad when a beloved stamp, tool, or accessory doesn't carry over to the new catalog.

But! But! But!

Tomorrow, Stampin' Up! will be unveiling the new Annual Catalog to all demonstrators worldwide. I can hardly wait to see all the new stamps, and papers, and tools. Oh ... and the new In Colors! So much suspense.

Customers will get to view the new catalog online June 2 when it goes live. If you're a Stampingville Preferred Customer your copy of the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog will be shipped directly to you on/around May 12. It should be arriving in your mailbox the last week of May!

Reminder: Butterflies Thinlits Special Offer ends tomorrow (April 30). Don't miss your chance to score a deal on these popular dies.

Cheers to Love

Simple wedding card with Stampin' Up! Cheers to Love stamp set + Mixed Bunch stamp set

I love everything about weddings. They are so fun, sweet, romantic and full of hope for the future. Today's wedding card was created especially for one of my nephews and his sweet bride in their wedding colors of purple and silver.

Stampin' Details:
  • The intricate flower blossom from the retiring Mixed Bunch stamp set is stamped onto Whisper White cardstock with VersaMark ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder for glossy texture.
  • To reveal the images, the panel was sponged with Wisteria Wonder ink.
  • The greeting, from the retiring Cheers to Love stamp set, is stamped using Elegant Eggplant ink on the top portion of the sponged panel.

Whisper White Satin Ribbon + Silver Metallic Ribbon edged in white are so elegant for wedding cards.

  • Covering the "seam" between the plain and sponged sections, is a length of Whisper White Satin Ribbon adorned with thin Silver Ribbon tied in a sweet little bow.

Cheers to Love, Laughter and Happily Ever After - Stampin' Up!

  • Inside the card, the sentiment is stamped in Elegant Eggplant on a Whisper White panel.
I really love the style of this stamp set and it can be used for creating many wedding projects. It would also work really well for creating the chalkboard look. (Gotta try that!)

However, the thing I love most about this set is the sentiment I used on the inside of the card. Not only is it a great sentiment, but it's a great size for inside the card as well as on tags and packaging.

Kind Koala Birthday Wishes

Cute children's birthday card with Stampin' Up! Kind Koala stamp

Need a birthday card for a little one? How about this little birthday koala. Normally he likes to say "thinking of you", but I altered him just a little so he could wish one of my cutie-patootie nieces a happy birthday.

It's really easy to omit part of a stamp. One common way is to use markers to ink the stamp in the desired area(s) only.

But what if you can't use markers? You might need to use StazOn or the Tuxedo Black Memento Pad to ink the image. What then?

Washi tape to the rescue!

I simply applied washi tape over the areas I did not want to ink. Once the remainder of the stamp was inked and ready for stamping, I carefully pulled off the washi tape and stamped the image onto cardstock. Ta daa!

Stamped image after omitting part of the original and adding a custom greeting.

To allow room for my altered greeting, the image was actually stamped twice using the same method both times. The entire top portion of the image was omitted when I stamped it the first time. I then covered the majority of the lower image and stamped again lining up the flower stem. A stamp-a-ma-jig is a life saver for lining up images!

The top portion of the stamp was finally stamped a third time, colored, cut by hand and adhered using a Stampin' Dimensional.

To create the birthday greeting, I used the Itty Bitty Banners Bundle (stamp set + framelits dies) and again omitted the left edge of the stamp. Once my banner was die-cut, I slightly curled the edge of the banner to appear "wrapped" around the flower stem.

Create custom words, letters and numbers using Stampin' Up! Simply Pressed Clay and Alphanumeric Mold.

Next, I had to come up with a way to say TO YOU, since the stamp image only says YOU at the bottom.

It was the perfect opportunity to use the new Alphanumeric Mold with the Simply Pressed Clay. I created the number two using the mold and clay and then after the clay dried I colored it using a marker.

Although it doesn't show well in the photos, the two circles of Glimmer Paper are colored green for an added pop of color.

Disclosure: I created this card several months ago and used Blendabilities markers which are no longer available. The same look can be achieved using Blender Pens or an Aqua Painter. You can also use Stampin' Write Markers to color images.

Many items used on this kid-friendly birthday card are about to retire:

  • Itty Bitty Banners stamp set
  • Itty Bitty Banners Bundle (the Bitty Banners Framelits are not retiring)
  • Large Scallop Edgelits Die
  • Scallop Edge Border Punch
  • Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper
  • Simply Pressed Clay
  • Alphanumeric Mold
  • Basic Gray Baker's Twine

See other retiring Stampin' Up! stamps and accessories here. Get up to 50% off the original price on many retiring products while supplies last.

Happy Friday!

Retiring Stampin' Up! Favorites

Miss You card featuring the Really Good Greetings Stamp Set by Stampin' Up!

Today I'm taking a trip down memory lane - a sort of throwback Thursday, if you will - with some of my favorite handmade cards and projects featuring Stampin' Up! products that are due to retire on June 2.

I won't be listing all the stamp sets and other papercrafting supplies at the end in one list (it would be loooong!). But I will include a link to the original post which does contain a supply list.

In case you missed it, you can learn all about the retiring Stampin' Up! stamps, ink, paper, tools, accessories and digital products in this previous post.

Fancy fold card with Apothecary Art stamp set and Labels Collection Framelits Dies by Stampin' Up!

This card featuring the Apothecary Art stamp set and the coordinating Labels Collection Framelits Dies has always been one of my all time favorites. Both products are retiring and I'll really miss the versatile Framelits. The Designer Series Paper (from Sale-a-bration 2012) was gorgeous and I really liked the fancy fold too.

Birthday card with Sketched Birthday + Yippee Skippee + Window Frames Collection Framelits by Stampin' Up!

The "carbs, schmarbs!" greeting in the Yippee Skippee stamp set always cracks me up. And the Sketched Birthday stamp set (cake) is a fun set whether colored or simply stamped. The Window Frames Collection Framelits create super easy decorative layers as you can see from this birthday card.

Hello card with Stampin' Up! Alphabet Press Embossing Folder for a cool background.

This hello card features the Alphabet Press Embossing Folder to create an interesting background. The greeting is from the Four You stamp set - one of my go-to sets for basic greetings.

Retiring Daydream Medallions stamp set by Stampin' Up! die-cut using Floral Frames Collection Framelits dies.

You'd never suspect this thinking of you/just because card was created using holiday themed products (patterned paper and embossing folder), but I knew the Daydream Medallions stamp set would be perfect for this project. All those squiggly curly-cues look smashing together!

Thank you card featuring Starburst Sayings stamp set + Starburst Framelit Dies.

Feel good card or thank you card? Either way it was a great way to show off some of the fun patterns in the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. I love these pads of patterned paper sized specifically for card making (4-1/2" x 6-1/2"). Also retiring are the Starburst Framelit Dies and coordinating Starburst Sayings stamp set.

Elegant all occasion card or anniversary card with Lovely Romance stamp set by Stampin' Up!

This elegant all occasion card turned into an anniversary card in the end. The Lovely Romance stamp set has beautifully intricate details that look gorgeous when heat embossed. The Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder was a perfect match for the style of this set. Both products are retiring; the background stamp retired previously.

Adorable baby shower card + gift bag with Hello Love stamp set by Stampin' Up!

This baby shower card and matching bag were so fun to create! The sweet Lullaby Designer Series Paper paired up with the Hello Love (hostess) Stamp Set perfectly for this girly gift duo. Bonus feature: Trimming away the bag left mommy-to-be with a 12 x 12 scrapbook page ready for baby's photo. Love that!

Goodness - I have quite a few more favorites picked out. I guess this will be continued with a part two ... coming soon!

Happy Earth Day

Earth laughs in flowers. -Ralph Waldo Emerson

What are you doing for Earth Day?

I've been looking at some suggestions for celebrating Earth Day and have decided that the best idea might be to just stamp all day.

Why?

If I'm stamping I won't be:

  • Generating the four pounds of trash the average person generates in one day.
  • Creating greenhouse gas emissions by driving somewhere in my vehicle.
  • Powering up home electronics - I can unplug from everything.

See?

Stamping something pretty is actually very eco-friendly and I totally want to do my part.

You're welcome.

So how are YOU planning to celebrate Earth Day?

Stampin' Up! Build a Bouquet Project Kit

Now that it's spring and Easter has come and gone, I've been thinking about Mother's Day. Wouldn't this beautiful paper flower bouquet be a great gift for Mom?

I love real flowers, but they don't last very long. Presenting Mom with this handmade paper bouquet will mean she'll get to enjoy it (and treasure it) for a very long time.  And she won't even have to water it!

Contents included in Stampin' Up! Build a Bouquet Project Kit #papercrafts #DIY #crafts #StampinUp

The Build a Bouquet Project Kit makes 25 flowers and includes:
  • Cotton-paper flowers
  • Die-cut cardstock elements
  • Cotton ribbon
  • Linen thread
  • Gift tag
  • Floral tape
  • Floral stem wires
  • Faceted buttons for flower centers
(Stamps, ink, and adhesives are sold separately.)

Gorgeous paper flowers look like the real deal! #papercrafts #crafts #DIY #StampinUp

You can certainly purchase the Build a Bouquet Project Kit as a stand alone item, but to create the bouquet as shown here you'll want to add the Build A Bouquet Photopolymer Stamp Set.

Stampin' Up! Build a Bouquet Photopolymer stamp set images #papercrafts #crafts #stamping #StampinUp

This stamp set, with 13 images, includes flower centers, leaves, and backgrounds you can add to the paper flowers in the kit or that you create yourself.

For helpful tips on creating the paper flowers in the kit, watch the step-by-step video below:

The Build a Bouquet Project Kit also includes written step-by-step instructions. You'll definitely want to use a hot glue gun on this project. Additional stamping supplies used on the bouquet are listed below.

I think Mom will be really impressed with her beautiful paper flower bouquet. That is, unless you decide to keep it for yourself instead! Haha.

So tell me ... what other ideas do you have for Mom for Mother's Day?

Because It's Your Birthday

Simple but pretty birthday card using Stampin' Up! Balloon Bash stamp set | Stampingville #papercrafts #cardmaking #StampinUp

This bright and cheery birthday card is yummy in Daffodil Delight. It's perfect for one of my yellow loving niece's.

My inspiration came from the Fusion Card Challenge, pulling colors from that gorgeous cupcake photo and then using the sketch for my layout.

Stampin' Details:

  • The fun greeting (from the Balloon Bash stamp set) provides just the right sentiment along with a playful hashtag.
  • The image is cropped perfectly using a die from the Ovals Collection Framelits and the Big Shot.
  • I stamped the banner a second time, fussy cut it, and popped it up for added emphasis.

Add Crystal Effects to projects for a glossy shine and a little pizzazz | Stampingville #papercrafts #cardmaking #StampinUp

  • For extra pizzazz, a coat of Crystal Effects over the banner makes it shiny/glossy.
  • Pearl Basic Jewels are centered on In Color Sequins (Baked Brown Sugar) to add sparkle to the "sprinkles".
  • Whisper White Satin Ribbon is wrapped around a background panel of Park Lane Designer Series Paper.

Free shipping April 6-10 on all Stampin' Up! products! #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

Free shipping! Get free shipping on Stampin' Up! products Monday, April 6 - Friday, April 10 with no minimum purchase required. It's the perfect time to stock up on supplies or get items from your wish list.
