Easy Fancy-Fold Wedding Gift Card Holder

Easy wedding gift card holder with sliding panel to reveal gift card. #papercrafts #cardmaking #wedding #StampinUp

This wedding gift card holder (one of the 17 make & take swaps at our Leadership stamping party) is so clever, but it's super easy to create. I should mention that this project was courtesy of Valerie Gray and most of the work was done ahead of time - we basically just assembled the pieces. I'll do my best though to give you some basic instructions.

Create this interlocking closure using the Stampin' Up! Envelope Punch Board. #papercrafts #cardmaking #wedding #StampinUp

Folded closed, this gift card holder is the size of a standard (A2) card - so it will fit a regular envelope if you need to mail it.

In the background, the Something Lacy background stamp was stamped on Vellum cardstock, embossed with white embossing powder, and randomly colored with Blendabilities. The main image and inside sentiment are from the For the New Two stamp set. Both images are embossed with Silver embossing powder.

The notches on the flap are created using the Envelope Punch Board, creating a clever self-closure feature.

Moving slider panel reveals gift card when card is opened! #papercrafts #cardmaking #wedding #StampinUp

As the card is opened the inner panel slides up to reveal the sentiment and a gift card!

Just three simple folds and one strip of adhesive to create this sliding gift card pocket. #papercrafts #cardmaking #wedding #StampinUp

Stampin' details:

  • The base layer is 4-1/4" x 11". Score at 2" and at 7-1/4".
  • The vellum layer is 4" x 10-3/4". Score at 1-3/4" and at 7".
  • Stamp or decorate the vellum as desired.
  • Adhere the vellum to the base layer. Create the notches by inserting one end of the panel (the end with the 2" score) into the Envelope Punch Board and align it at the 1" mark and punch. Flip the panel over, align it at the 1" mark and punch again.
  • Fold the bottom section (with the notches). Tie closed using Lace Trim, adhering the lace to the back.
  • The sliding panel measures 3-3/4" x 6-1/2". Score at 1/2" and 4-3/4". Stamp greeting onto end of panel above the second score line.
  • Fold at the score line below the greeting and crease well using a bone folder. Insert the folded end into the pocket of the base card.
  • At the top score line, fold under and crease well using a bone folder to create a flap, Unfold the flap and place Sticky Strip or Fast Fuse along the entire length of the flap facing you (above the score line).
  • Ensure the panel is still tightly nestled in the pocket and centered with the adhesive exposed. Fold the top of the base card over (close the card) and press well to make contact with exposed adhesive on the inner panel. Open the card and the inner panel should slide up revealing the sentiment. Insert the gift card in the folded pocket behind the sentiment.
  • Decorate the gift card holder as desired.

Isn't this a clever gift card holder? I can't wait for the next wedding!

Sweet Mini Treat Bag

Valentine themed treat bag. #papercrafts #StampinUp

This sweet little treat bag is the last of our creations from the big stampin' party we held in Orlando while attending the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference. Since the event was two weeks before Valentine's Day, this treat bag is dressed up appropriately. So why show you now that it's almost March?

Because I can! Ha, ha. Just kidding. Because I know that 1) stampers save ideas they like for future reference (I know this because people are still pinning and repinning some of my Christmas projects!), and 2) because with barely any changes this treat bag could be used for a birthday, anniversary, or Easter. And I know y'all are searching for Easter ideas. (Note to self: hurry up with the Easter projects.)

DIY treat bags with Stampin' Up! Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies + Big Shot #papercrafts #StampinUp

This simple mini treat bag is created with the new Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies (squee). I've talked about this set of dies before, but it's such a great value. In addition to the treat bag itself, there are TEN additional dies that can be used on oodles of other projects.

Super easy and cute treat bag. #Valentines #papercrafts #StampinUp

Stampin' Details:

  • The patterned paper used for this bag is the Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper - one of the exclusive (and free!) Sale-a-bration products available through March 31. Just sponge or brayer ink onto the paper and the glossy embossed pattern magically appears!
  • The Artisan Embellishment Kit dresses up this bag beautifully. Love the single rosette on the pull-out card inside!
  • Swap the greeting on the banner to fit any occasion. For Valentine's Day, we used the You Plus Me stamp set.
  • Who doesn't appreciate receiving chocolate and gold? Gold sequin trim adds extra sparkle!

Great use of products in the Stampin' Up! Artisan Embellishment Kit. #papercrafts #Valentines #StampinUp

Can you believe February is over? I swear, the last two weeks have flown by in a flash.

Have a great weekend!

The One With Butterflies On Every Card

Bokeh technique background + SU Butterflies Thinlits Dies #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

Butterfly trends may come and go, but if they are something you love they tend to wind up on your cards and other papercraft projects fairly often. Then along comes a particularly beautiful butterfly stamp or embellishment that you simply must have. Whether you have 1 or 100 in your collection, life will not be complete without said new butterfly.

I'm pretty sure that when everyone got to page 26 of the Occasions Catalog and spotted the new Butterflies Thinlits Dies, the squeals of delight around the country could be heard at the Stampin' Up! offices in Utah! This set of beautiful dies has been so popular it wiped out the entire inventory almost immediately (no worries - they are back in stock!).

It wasn't too surprising then, to arrive at our team make & take swap session to find that nearly half of the cards utilized these butterfly dies in one way or another. Take a look at what we created at our stampin' party:

Stampin' Up! Butterflies Thinlits Dies + Hello You Thinlits Dies #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

Another trendy and popular item has been the Hello You Thinlits Dies. Pair die-cut images (happy, hello, thanks, you) with any stamped greeting or phrase for a customized card or project. These dies coordinate perfectly with the new Crazy About You stamp set filled with a boatload of words and phrases to create just about any type of greeting imaginable.

Butterfly Basics stamp set + Butterflies Thinlits Dies = beautiful birthday card #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

This beautiful birthday card features many images from the Butterfly Basics stamp set. Because the set is very eclectic, you can mix and match the images until your fingers are numb and never get it wrong! Notice the birthday greeting? Yes, it's stamped on vellum cardstock, but check out the bling dotting the i in Birthday!

All Occasion card with Butterfly Basics Bundle (stamps + dies). #papercrafts #cardmaking #StampinUp

This simple and lovely all occasion card uses a paper doily as a background layer. This card can be created in a snap and it looks beautiful.

Thinking of You card with butterfly cutout. Simple and cute! #papercrafts #cardmaking #StampinUp

This was my card for the swap/stampin' party. The card base is embossed with the Woodgrain embossing folder to give this clean and simple card a bit of subtle texture in the background. Although it isn't visible in this photo, many of the tiny flowers on this patterned paper have Daffodil Delight centers.

Butterfly punch + vellum creates a peek-a-boo window card. #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

This simple all ocassion card provides a butterfly shaped peek-a-boo window to the inside of the card. There are so many possibilities for this idea it boggles the mind!

Use matching or coordinating paper inside the card to peek through the "window". #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

Choose any coordinating color for the inside of the card, or as this artist did, use the same designer series paper. Either way, you'll get a muted look showing through the vellum.

Double layer die-cut butterfly + sequins + lace trim! Ooh La La!! #papercrafts #cardmaking #StampinUp

This beauty was so fun to make with a little of everything! Notice the die-cut butterfly is actually two layers combined together. Although it's hard to see in this photo, the bottom layer was cut from the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper (free Sale-a-Bration product).

Thank You card in shades of teal (Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Island Indigo). #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

This card might be called Teal monochromatic ombre. The lacy butterfly from the Butterfly Basics stamp set is stamped using Coastal Cabana ink on Coastal Cabana cardstock. It is layered on a die-cut panel of Bermuda Bay, which rests on a embossed background panel of Island Indigo. Beautiful colors!

Butterfly die-cut from glimmer paper with a bokeh technique background. Stunning!! #papercrafts #cardmaking #StampinUp

This gorgeous card features a background panel using the bokeh technique: Spritz watercolor paper with plain water until it is very saturated. (Tip: Use painter's tape to tape down the watercolor paper. This keeps your paper from moving while working and also keeps the water and ink from seeping underneath the paper.)

Using ink refill bottles, drop ink randomly onto the saturated paper. Use three or four colors of coordinating ink. The ink will run together creating beautiful messy patterns. Allow the piece to dry completely or use the heat tool to speed up the process.

Punch and/or die-cut circles of various sizes in a Window Sheet. Use the sheet as a mask over the prepared and dried watercolor paper. Use a Sponge Dauber or Stamping Sponges to apply White craft ink (or Metallic Silver or Gold) to the project. For the smallest circles, the artist used a pencil eraser dipped in Silver Metallic ink.

I hope you enjoyed all the butterfly projects today. I still have two more projects to share with you from this gathering and you don't want to miss these. They are over the top!

Card Inspiration From Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog

Look who's back! After my computer died (again), I decided it was time to quit messing around with repairs and just get a whole new computer. So I now have a shiny new piece of equipment and I'm sloooowly getting programs loaded, downloaded, tweaked, and reinstated. It's amazing how much I depend on all the little shortcuts and links I use each day.

Anyhoo ... sorry for being MIA for so long. I'll try to make up for lost time with a boatload of fun ideas for you to enjoy. Last month, our team attended the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference in Orlando. Naturally, we learned lots of business tips, cool stamping ideas and tips, and even got sneak peeks of upcoming Paper Pumpkin kits!

In addition, our group + a few far flung demonstrator friends got together for make & take swap sessions. Would you like to see what we made? I'll be sharing the projects with you all week long, so be sure to check in often.

Twitterpated heart embossed card with bow (created using Bow Builder Punch. #stampinup #cardmaking #papercrafts

This made a great Valentine, but it can also be for an anniversary or just to say I love you.

Stuck in a snow bank? Create your own summer scene with the Sheltering Tree stamp set. If you are/were a fan of the older Branch Out stamp set, you'll love this fresh new version even better!

Great love card for birthday, anniversary, or Valentine's. #cardmaking #papercrafts #Stampinup

This happy day love card borrows a sentiment from the Build a Bouquet stamp set. You'll find lots of uses for the stamp set after completing the Build a Bouquet Project Kit.

Terrific hello card with lots of geometric interest going on.  The Hello You Thinlits Dies are available separately or with the coordinating Crazy about You stamp set.

Tag + card combo with Big Day Stamp Set. #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

In these colors, this is a great masculine birthday card idea. You could create a pile of these in a rainbow of colors in very little time and be ready for any birthday that rolls around. The Big Day stamp set is another exclusive Sale-a-Bration product. Get it free when you purchase $50 of any Stampin' Up! products (promotion ends 3/31/15).

I hope you enjoyed these great designs. I have more to share from our little stampin' party/swap. Be sure to check back - especially if you like butterflies!
