Vacation + How-To Videos

What a day! There are TWO super exciting things going on over here today. First, several family members are due to arrive from out of state and we'll be spending a couple of weeks doing the vacation thing! Yay!!

The second exciting thing is my big (BIG) Stampin' Up! order of goodies from the new catalog is due to arrive today. Yippee!!  The one tiny problem is that I won't be able to dive in and start creating right away. I KNOW! But I will get to have tons of fun with the family.

Meanwhile, I hope you'll enjoy watching some great videos this week packed with helpful tips and creative ideas.

Stampin' Up! Work of Art

Stampingville: YOU are a fabulous work of art! #cardmaking #crafts #StampinUp

The interesting thing about the new Work of Art stamp set is the unlimited possibilities. At first glance, it's easy to assume that combining several of the images from this 11-piece set will create a lovely "work of art" for your projects. And, well duh, of course it will. By mixing up the sentiments and images, creating various unique cards and projects will be a snap.

BUT! Look again. Take away the sentiments and you've got a handful of brush-stroke style swaths, swatches, and shapes that are perfect for a background. Whether you want to create an entire background or just need one splotch of something as a background layer, it's here in this set.

It's as if Gorgeous Grunge took an art/painting class and this was the result. So fun!

Stampingville: Frame your fabulous work of art #cardmaking #crafts #StampinUp

Stampin' details:
  • The tone-on-tone Crumb Cake swath in the background adds just the right amount of interest behind the focal point.
  • The (focal point) repeated swatch is stamped three times (with Bermuda Bay ink) without re-inking the stamp. Known as gradient stamping, this technique provides differing tones of the same color.
  • The subtle (barely visible) splotch in the upper corner is tone-on-tone Soft Sky.
  • Creating a "frame" for my art work was super simple using the Squares Collection Framelit Dies.
  • The Beautifully Baroque Embossing Folder gave my frame just the right amount of texture.
I really like the Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, and Bermuda Bay color combo. What do you think?

P.S. All Stampin' Up! websites, including online ordering, will be down for maintenance on Saturday, June 7th from approximately 5:30 AM (MT) until 8:30 AM (MT). We apologize for any inconvenience.

Moonlight Thank You Card

Stampingville: Easy, elegant thank you card #cardmaking #StampinUp #crafts

Have you noticed the recurring theme with my last several cards? Each one has used patterned paper from the same collection: the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack. Yet each card looks completely different. I'm loving the versatility of this pad of 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" papers - perfect for cardmaking!

Coordinating colors for this paper stack are: Basic Gray, Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Sahara Sand, and Whisper White.

(Note: I'm having trouble getting Hello Honey to photograph true to color. I'm sure it's some clever thing I should be doing with my camera, that I haven't figured out yet. In real life, Hello Honey is a warm, golden yellow - think acorn squash. The photos make it look more orange and darker than it really is.)

Stampingville: Thank You (for beautiful ribbon!) #cardmaking #StampinUp #crafts

Stampin' details:

  • Adding a scallop edge border is a cute way to transition from one patterned paper to another, without having to mat the layers. As an added bonus, it's the perfect place to sneak in a few teeny-tiny pearls.
  • A smaller sentiment might get lost amid busy patterned paper, but the bold "Thank You" from the Four You stamp set grabs the attention.
  • Luscious Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin Ribbon is a dream to work with and looks sophisticated but not too stuffy.
  • This striking color combo groups Sahara Sand with Hello Honey and Blackberry Bliss, two new Stampin' Up! In Colors.

Stampin' Up! 2014-2015 Annual Catalog Revealed!

Stampin' Up! 2014-2015 Annual Catalog Image

Woo Hoo! The new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog is here, along with the 2014-2015 Celebrando Creatividad, the beautiful Spanish-language supplemental catalog.  It's finally time to reveal all the new stamps, ink, paper, tools, and accessories to the world!

A new catalog feature that I love (and I'll bet you will too) is the "You Can Make It" guides printed throughout the catalog next to project ideas. The guide lists exactly what products you'll need to re-create that project. No flipping around the catalog searching for what might have been used and no sleuthing to track down an online supply list. These project guides will help you to create beautiful projects quickly and easily.

Bundle up! Be sure to look for the oodles of new bundles - coordinating products (like stamps + matching framelits) bundled together and priced at a 15% discount. Hmmm, save time and money?  Yes, please!
