I'm Just Sayin' It's Your Birthday

Stampingville: Quick and easy birthday card fun #cardmaking #rubberstamping #StampinUp

If you read my last post, featuring my Stampin' Up! In Color sampler, you know I said that it was love at first sight with Blackberry Bliss. This new addition to our color family is going to get lots of love from me! Apparently, I'm going to have to work on some photography issues, because this rich, gorgeous color is not coming across in the photos. Trust me. Blackberry Bliss is yummy and you must add this to your wish list pronto.

Fusion Challenge May 22
SO. I peeked at the latest FUSION challenge and then mulled it over a few days. Originally, I was planning to use the inspiration photo. I just wasn't getting a thing from the sketch. Then lo and behold, when I popped back in today for another peek ... BAM. Inspiration struck and it was completely the opposite of what I expected. You know what to do when that happens? Yep. GO with it!

For a fun birthday jab, I chose a greeting from the Just Sayin' stamp set. After stamping the image using Blackberry Bliss ink, I cropped it using the coordinating Word Bubble Framelit Die. The greeting is popped up on a layer of the new Moonlight Designer Series Paper and it all resides on a luscious Blackberry Bliss card base.

The circle shape, die-cut with framelits, is also a new In Color - Hello Honey. It's a warm, golden yellow that is actually quite versatile. I've already used it on several projects and it has fit right in with different styles and color combos.

Stampingville: Stamps + Matching Framelits = Instant DIY Elements for cards and scrapbooks

I was happy to stare at the Blackberry Bliss card base all day, but decided to add a little somethin' to give it some oomph. It is, after all, a birthday card. That calls for something special in my book. After whining a bit about a missing embossing folder that would have been perfect for this card, my eyes came to rest on the Gold Sequin Trim and the rest, as they say, was history.

After snipping off a dozen or so sequins, I randomly attached them using Mini Glue Dots - a perfect fit in the size department!

Okay then, stampers - it's Friday - woot!

Get out there and enjoy your weekend, but don't forget to give your stamps a little love.

Vivid Vases: Freshly Cut New In Colors From Stampin' Up!

Stampingville: A freshly cut arrangement of new Stampin' Up! In Colors #papercrafts #cardmaking #StampinUp

It's almost time for the debut of the new Stampin' Up! 2014-2015 Annual Catalog. Yippee! Does anyone remember the tv commercial (Mervyn's, I think) with the lady standing outside the store doors chanting "open, open, open"?

That is how I feel every time the new catalog comes around. Okay, actually, that is how I feel before our demonstrator sneak peeks, preorders, and every seasonal catalog too! I'm pretty much in a constant state of excited anticipation. Don't ask about the greeting my UPS guy gets. It's a tad embarrassing.

Today's card is a fun sampler of the new 2014-2016 In Colors. Stampin' Up! introduces five trendy "in" colors each year that you'll notice are popular in fashion, home decor and, well, pretty much everywhere else. A full line of coordinating In Color products will be available on June 2, including ink, cardstock, markers, patterned paper, ribbon, and embellishments.

Trendy new In Colors from Stampin' Up!

Using the Vivid Vases stamp, I stamped (and fussy cut) a vase from each of the five new colors of cardstock. From left to right are: Mossy Meadow, Hello Honey, Lost Lagoon, Tangelo Twist, Blackberry Bliss. The flowers were colored using the new In Color Stampin' Write Markers.

A little subtle paper-piercing in the upper corners adds texture to this clean and simple design, along with the Blackberry Bliss scallop border (punch).

For a colorful finishing touch, I added Tangelo Twist Stitched Satin Ribbon. Swoon! This soft satin ribbon is gorgeous and hopefully you can see the tone-on-tone stitched lines. This ribbon will be available in all the new In Colors.

The new In Color products, along with lots of other new products, will be available on June 2. Please note that online ordering will not be available on June 2 from midnight to noon (Mountain), while Stampin' Up! updates the system with all the new products.

Favorite new In Color? It was love at first sight for Blackberry Bliss! I also like Lost Lagoon and Hello Honey, but I really believe that all the colors will get lots of use from me. Your turn - what is your favorite new In Color or are you still on the fence?

You Make The World A Better Place

Stampingville: You make the world a better place #cardmaking #rubberstamping #StampinUp

Today, I'm thinking (as are many of you) of our fallen heroes and their families. I'm grateful for their bravery and their sacrifice. My heart goes out to those who will be visiting their loved ones not at a party/bbq/picnic, but at a cemetery. Today's post is dedicated to those who laid down their lives. Thank you. You are not forgotten.
Operation Write Home Sketch 226

Today is also a great time to check in with our friends at Operation Write Home. It's been a while since I've participated in a OWH sketch challenge, so what better time than today?!

The sketch gave me the perfect opportunity to play with some Stampin' Up! sneak peek items from the upcoming new Annual Catalog (debuts June 2).

I've incorporated two of the yummy new In Colors, Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon along with a terrific new paper collection. The Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack features 48 sheets of patterned paper in a 4-1/2" x 6-1/2" pad. There are multiples of each design - 4 each of 12 double-sided designs - great for creating multiples of cards for OWH.

The greeting card sentiment is from the Starburst Sayings stamp set and is a breeze to cut with the coordinating Starburst Framelits. If you love stamps with coordinating framelits, be sure to check out the Starburst Bundle (available with wood-mount or clear-mount stamps) before June 4 when the 15% off bundle offer ends.

Finally, to give my card a lil' somethin, somethin, I embossed the Lost Lagoon cardstock panel using the Honeycomb Embossing Folder which tied in perfectly with one of the paper patterns.

As you can see, I flipped the sketch and created a mirror image, but kept everything else more or less the same. It's a great basic sketch with lots of possibilities.

Have a safe holiday!

Lady In Red: Another Blended Bloom

Cherry Cobbler Blended Bloom Card | Stampingville #cardmaking #rubberstamping #StampinUp

You might have seen this post, where I tried out the new Stampin' Up! Blendabilities alcohol markers using the Daffodil Delight collection. This time I used the Cherry Cobbler collection on the same Blended Bloom stamp (available June 2). The flower is a gorgeous image and perfect for coloring, especially using the new markers.

This was one of my "practice runs", mainly to try out the various color collections and practice on the blending technique. As I continue on (and keep learning and perfecting), I'll share some tips in a future post. For now, I was just playing around and decided to use this bloom on a quick card.

Blended Bloom - Stampin' Up! Cherry Cobbler Blendabilities

I'm a little obsessed with fussy cutting this bloom, so I can pop it up with Dimensionals. It practically jumps right off the card!

The background image (in Crumb Cake) is from the Flowering Flourishes stamp set - one I haven't used for a while and it needed some love.

The deep red jewels? Those are the Rhinestone Basic Jewels colored with Blendabilities markers! The ink goes on easily, isn't streaky, and dries fairly quickly. I love that I'll be able to color rhinestones in Stampin' Up! colors to match my projects.

Father's Day Card: Gee, Thanks Dad

Fun, easy Father's Day Card | Stampingville #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

With Father's Day right around the corner (how did that happen?), you might be looking for a fun, yet thoughtful masculine card idea for dear ol' Dad.

For a terrific starting point, look no further than the Stampin' Up! Epic Day Designer Series Paper. This collection of patterned paper has an aged and distressed look and many of the designs are suitable for masculine cards - including one with subtly printed words such as courageous, insightful, strong, original, etc.

The coordinating Epic Day Washi Tape adds a fun touch that Dad will appreciate, not to mention the added splatters. Unless, of course, Dad is a neat freak - in which case this might just freak him the heck out. Ha!

Fun use of die-cut tags for Dad | Stampingville #papercrafts #rubberstamping #StampinUp

Creating the tags with the letters for "DAD" is super fun and easy. The tags are die-cut using the Hearts a Flutter Framelit Dies and the Big Shot. The tags have a subtle background stamped using the Clockworks stamp set. Finally, the letters are stamped using the Notable Alphabet stamp set and heat embossed using (my beloved) Pewter Embossing Powder.

Last Chance Alert!
Many of the products used on this Father's Day card will be retiring soon (last day to order retiring products is June 4, 2014). Get your favorites before they're gone for good. See all the retiring Stampin' Up! products in one location here.

Note: Stamp sets are going fast and it appears the Clockworks stamp set may be sold out. Boo! :(

Oh, Happy Day

Special occasion card with gold embossed vellum | Stampingville #cardmaking #papercrafts #StampinUp

If you love the current gold trend, then you probably don't need a reason to use it on your handmade cards. But it's perfect for a special occasion card such as a wedding, anniversary, or graduation. This card is easy to create, but looks like a million bucks ... or gold bars, as the case may be ... and shines beautifully when the light hits all the gold embossing.

The "oh, HAPPY DAY" sentiment from the Starburst Sayings stamp set gets glammed up with gold embossing. Cropping the starburst is quick and easy using the coordinating Starburst Framelits and the Big Shot.

NOTE: For a limited time, save 15% on the Starburst Sayings Bundle. Includes the stamp set in wood-mount or clear-mount plus the coordinating framelit dies. Bundle offer ends June 4!

Embossed starburst die-cut greeting | Stampingville #papercrafts #cardmaking #StampinUp

For the simple (but festive!) background, the Fancy Foil Designer Vellum is layered over Whisper White cardstock and matted with a piece of the Gold Foil Sheets. Adding the Whisper White behind the vellum keeps the background "white".

The dainty little flower, created with the (retiring) Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, features a gold sequin topped off with a small pearl.

TIP: Cut the length you need from the Gold Sequin Trim or snip the thread to use individual sequins.

Pairing Burlap Ribbon with Natural Chevron Ribbon is a great look together and dresses up or down very nicely. In this case, I'd call it a "leather and lace ala Stevie Nicks" sort of combination!

Happy Monday - have a great week.
