Feeling Sentimental Masculine Card

Stampin' Up! Feeling Sentimental Card

Are you always on the look out for masculine card ideas?

I felt like celebrating myself when I saw the free Sale-a-bration stamp set Feeling Sentimental. The images have old world charm and are just as appropriate for feminine cards as they are for masculine cards.

This stamp set is a great alternative to use for masculine cards in place of wildlife or sailboats for example, which may not suit all the men on your card-making list. With retro and nostalgia still so trendy, these vintage images are right in style too.

Elegant sentiment banner with partial frame

The First Edition Specialty Designer Series Paper proves once again how versatile it is. A little light sponging around the edges adds dimension.

The new Ovals Collection Framelits are perfectly suited for this card, keeping the lines clean and simple.

To add just a touch of added interest and whimsy, I gave my sentiment banner a partial frame created using the Dotted Scallop Ribbon Border Punch.

Just 24 days left!

Just Thinking of You

Stampin' Up! Just Thinking Stamp Set Card

Great minds think alike this week. While working on several variations of thinking of you cards, I just happened to catch the sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches and it was perfect for this card. I had such a great time playing along last time {grin}, I couldn't pass up the opportunity.
Freshly Made Sketches #74

The larger background shape is die-cut using the Floral Frames Framelits Collection Dies with the Parker's Patterns Designer Series Paper. To add a little texture, I embossed it using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.

The greeting/focal point is stamped using Just Thinking (single rubber stamp) by Stampin' Up! It was stamped twice, with the Crumb Cake bottom layer die-cut using the Window Frames Collection Framelits, and the top portion stamped in Not Quite Navy, hand cut, and popped up using dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Just Thinking Single Stamp

The stamp artwork includes the word "friend" underneath Thinking of You, however it's easy to stretch the use of this stamp by simply covering the word friend with a bit of ribbon or card stock, as I've done here. This makes the card appropriate for not only a friend, but a family member or an acquaintance.

I'll be tucking several of these cards in the box destined for Operation Write Home as well. This type of card is always in demand.

xoxo

Playing Dress Up: Congrats Card

Stampin' Up! Dress Up Framelits Congratulations Card

Remember the Oscar Party Glimmer Dress from earlier this week? I've created another version of the dress with Champagne Glimmer Paper (my favorite).

This congratulations card would be perfect for a wedding card, anniversary card, or another special occasion.

Are you wondering how to create a long gown using the Stampin' Up! Dress Up Framelit Dies?  It's very easy to do.

How to use the Dress Up Framelits to die-cut a long gown

Cut a strip of card stock that is 2-1/8" wide. Slide one end of the card stock strip over the bottom of the framelit, while the remaining card stock is under the framelit (as shown in the photo above on the left). Run the die through the Big Shot on Tab 2 of the Multipurpose Platform. This will die-cut the top and sides of the dress.

Next, rearrange the card stock so it goes under just the bottom of die to create the scallop (hem). You can make the dress as long as you want - just keep in mind the dimensions of your card or project.

Paper tuxedo and evening gown close-up photo

You might also be wondering how to create that handsome tuxedo. Many thanks to the wildly talented and awesome Karen Burniston, the creator of the Pop 'n Cuts Dies. You can download a free tuxedo template on her blog.

Karen is a papercrafter who specializes in pop ups and interactive elements. She designs for Sizzix and designed the exclusive Stampin' Up! Pop 'n Cuts dies featured in the Spring Catalog (page 32).  To see  how the Pop 'n Cuts dies work together, here is a video by the creator herself:

These dies are soooo clever! And of course, Stampin' Up! designed the adorable All Dressed Up stamp set to coordinate.  If you're like me and want the whole shebang, be sure to take advantage of the All Dressed Up Bundle (stamp set + framelit dies) to save 15%.

Playing Dress Up: Oscar Party Invitation

Party or Wedding Invitation Photo

How long has it been since you played with paper dolls?

I'm having a ball playing with the new All Dressed Up Bundle (All Dressed Up stamp set + Dress Up Framelits Dies). If you want to feel like a kid again and unleash the wannabe fashion designer inside, you will love creating with these new "toys" from Stampin' Up!

In honor of the Oscars, I created a classy party invitation - which gave me a reason to create a sparkly evening gown!

Side view of classy party invitation

The party invite features a curvy closure created with the Labels Collection Framelits and is adorned with the new Designer Builder Brads.

Stampin' Up! Designer Builder Brads

The flap tucks into a tiny little closure pocket (a small slit in the card stock). The lower portion is embossed with the Lacy Brocade Embossing Folder.

Inside: Invitation Details and sparkly dress

Inside the invitation are the details and an original designer "Glimmer Gown". Hee!! The flower and "you're invited" greeting are from the Oh, Hello stamp set. The party details were printed on card stock and cut to fit.

Stampin' Up! Dress Up Framelits Glimmer Paper Dress

The Glimmer Gown was created using the Dress Up Framelits and the Big Shot to cut the gown from Silver Glimmer Paper. To color the skirt, I dipped a Stamping Sponge in a few drops of Basic Black ink (from the ink pad refill bottle) and dabbed it on the Glimmer Paper.

Did you notice the adorable tiny hanger? I couldn't resist!! The Cute Clips - Hung Up Collection contains tiny hangers, arrows, and thought bubbles. They are aptly named because they are stinkin' cute!  I did snip a tiny bit off the hanger clip, so as not to interfere with the neckline of the gown. We certainly can't have that, now can we? ;)

xoxo

Stampin' Up! That's the Ticket Precious Baby Card

Stampin' Up! That's the Ticket Baby Card Idea

It's the final installment of my stamping party recap (See part one and part two), and this was my card for the shoebox swap. The girls all seemed to like it ... yay!

I really love all the patterns in the Stampin' Up! Tea for Two Designer Series Paper collection, but these two patterns are my very favorite. The coral tea roses are just beautiful! I adore the That's the Ticket stamp set and was really excited to use that "precious baby" stamp.

Stampin' Up! That's the Ticket Stamp Set ideas

The second ticket is embellished with a bitty butterfly (new punch!), a tiny scallop circle (Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack), and a rhinestone. Behind the tickets is a little wisp of the large oval lace from the Artisan Embellishments Kit (swoon!). Another new favorite is the Flower Trim - delicate little fabric flowers on a continuous strip of tulle. I played around with coloring them, but decided in the end to just leave them Vanilla.

Stampin' Up! Flower Trim dyed two ways

Coloring the flowers is super easy. The top two flowers (in the photo above) were lightly touched onto a Calypso Coral ink pad.  The bottom flower was pressed into the pad, then lightly spritzed with water, causing the color to bleed and spread. Beautiful! You can also use a Stampin' Write Marker to color part or all of the flower as well. And, of course, you can create a dye bath, using a small container with water and a few drops of classic ink from an ink pad refill bottle. (The more drops of ink - the more intense the color will be.)

Did You Know ... Only 40 more shopping days left during Sale-a-bration. Don't forget to pick out your freebies to add to your order!

xoxo
