Stampin' Up! Convention Swag

Stampin' Up! Convention Bag, Stamp Sets & More

There are lots of reasons to attend the annual Stampin' Up! Convention, not the least of which is all the cool stuff you get while you're there. (More on the other reasons in a future post.)

The day before the convention officially starts is known as "check-in day". While we don't really "check-in" anymore, we do go to the Bag Pickup Area to receive the coveted Convention Bag. I LOVED this year's Convention Bag. Love the color, the Chevron pattern, the inner pockets. It's sturdy and well made, but not stiff. I will totally be using this bag!

Inside the Convention Bag are stamp sets and a few other goodies: the official 2012 Convention Pin, the Convention Program/Workbook, a nice pen, a Anywhere Glue Stick (the workbook had cute punch-out embellishments to use in the workbook or on other projects), flyers with Convention Attendee-Only Special Offers, a copy of the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog, and a copy of the new Holiday Catalog (Debuts tomorrow - Woot!! Contact me now to request a free copy.)

Which stamp sets did we receive? Check back tomorrow and I'll show you the sets AND what we created with them during our Make & Takes.

Included in my swag photo (above) are TWO stamp sets given away to every demonstrator during General Session: Moving Forward, this year's Ronald McDonald House Charities stamp set; and Mixed Medley, a new hostess set from the Holiday Catalog.  Convention attendees who attended six or more classes were rewarded with a fun stamp set called I AM, which was designed using our Convention theme, but can be used for a variety of everyday projects.

Also pictured is ... drum roll please ... my Prize Patrol score! Yes, after a two year drought, I had a winning wristband this year and received the stunningly beautiful Stippled Blossoms stamp set, plus a couple of awesome new accessories from the Holiday Catalog. Yay me!! And thank you Stampin' Up!

I received yet another stamp set, Quincea├▒era, during a special Hispanic Night Event/Class where we made the cutest little gift/treat bag.

A few other things pictured in the photo are my Momento Mall* purchases: The cute t-shirt, lip balm, pens, eco-friendly shopping bag, 2012 Convention Charm, and a super cool day-planner. (I love real calendars and day-planners. I simply can not get used to using the calendar within Outlook.)

Whew - That is a lot of fabulousness in one spot, wouldn't you say?! Anyone care to join me at Convention next year? Now is the perfect time to join Stampin' Up! and I have an awesome crafty gift waiting for anyone who joins my team in August.  Look for complete details tomorrow (or contact me now - I'm bursting to spill the beans!).

Reminder: Today is the last day to get the Reason to Smile stamp set (just $5 with a $50 order) and the last day to receive an extra $50 in hostess dollars with a qualifying order.

xoxo

Thank You Card Ideas (From Convention)

A popular destination at the Stampin' Up! Convention is the Demonstrator Resource Center, which among other things, contains the Product Showcase area (projects created by the staff Concept Artists) and the Display Boards (projects created by staff and Demonstrators). And there are oodles and oodles of samples! Cards, scrapbook pages, home decor, gifts and more are on display.

It's sometimes a challenge to get a good photograph with proper lighting and composition, given that there is always a crowd around the display boards - all trying to take pictures at the same time! So, while some of these photos aren't the best quality, I hope you enjoy seeing the creative ideas and inspiration. Today, I've grouped together sample ideas with a "Thank You" theme.

Clean + simple thank you card using punches + dry embossing

Thanks so much card with trendy fabric flower and chevron pattern

Clean & Simple Thanks Card with Stampin' Up! Postage Stamp Punch

Quick & easy thank you card with Summer Smooches Designer Series Paper

Thanks a Bunch with new Friendship Preserves Bundle

Clean & Simple So Grateful Card

Thjank You card with creative use of patterned paper

Thank You Pocket Card with Embossed Chevron

Thank You card with trendy, tiny flags on wooden dowels

Thank You Gift Bag With Easy Adornments

HIP TIP: Create coordinating tissue paper for any gift bag! Use a brayer and the ink pad of your choice to turn plain white tissue paper into gorgeous colored paper. Simply use the brayer to apply ink over the entire piece of tissue paper.

As an alternative, stamp tissue paper using stamps and classic ink pads for a completely coordinated (and beautiful) gift bag!

If you have any questions about the projects shown here (a particular stamp set, accessory, or technique for example), please leave a comment below and I will be happy to reply!

Digital Inspiration Wow's From Convention

Well helloooooo!

No, I did not get lost in Salt Lake City, although it would have been fun to stay longer and soak up more of beautiful Utah. I returned home from the Stampin' Up! Convention late Monday afternoon and was greeted by a massive (and very scary) thunderstorm. Not the best welcome. The welcome home greeting from the two furballs (and hubby too) was much better!  And Tuesday? Total recovery day. The go-go-go exhaustion that is convention + major jet lag = drag your behind around all day without getting much accomplished!

While I get caught up and back to reality this week, I thought I would share some of the fabulous inspiration found at every turn during Convention.  Today it's digital inspiration day. Look what I found ...

Good News! Stampin' Up! announced that MDS2 is nearly ready for release. The company has decided to release the new and improved software program on August 1, 2012 - sooner than anticipated - although they are still testing and tweaking a few of the new features. However, due to the high demand and excitement surrounding MDS2, Stampin' Up! has opted to release it sooner and add the remaining new features in a future (free) software update.
